ST AIDAN 50? NEVER!
Friday 12th March sees the 50th Anniversary of one of our Parish Centres, St Aidan on Coronation Square. In 1955 a temporary structure was built, and in 1959 the cornerstone of St Aidan was laid. The building was dedicated in 1960. The church is, of course, much more than buildings, more about; 'who we are, than where we go'. But our buildings are focal points for the community and St Aidan is on one of those prime sites, its frontage seen from a distance down Edinburgh Place. It was named after the Northumbrian Saint and after it's name sake St Aidan, Cheltenham, Pennsylvania USA.
St Aidan is now one of the resources of St Aidan & St Silas who were joined in matrimony in 2003. One of its best kept secrets is the wonderful Coffee Shop every Friday from 10am to 12pm. So on Friday 12th March we are all invited to a Celebratory Coffee Shop extended to 1pm. Posh table cloths, celebration cake, and free refreshments all served by a sartorial group of waiters, with donations going to a local charity. So here's to the next 50!
